At Victory Baptist Church, our mission is to spread the love of Christ and provide a welcoming worship community for all. We believe in nurturing faith and fostering spiritual growth through our church services and fellowship.
Tim Driver was born on May 6, 1970, in Gary, Indiana. His father worked as a truck driver for Inland Steel, and his mother served as the church secretary for Open Door COGIC. Tim began his journey into programming computers at the age of 8 and started preaching the Word of God by age 9. After graduating high school, he attended Purdue University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence. He later obtained his Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an Executive MBA from Howard University.
Currently, Tim is an Agile Transformation Specialist, focusing on coaching, training, and managing organizational agile transformations, maturation, and change management. His extensive experience includes a successful track record of coaching agile transformations and overseeing product/program delivery for Fortune 100 companies across various industries, including High Tech, Telecom, Health Care, Financial Services, and Entertainment. Tim's strength lies in his leadership and pragmatic approach to agile transformations and change management, aligning them with an organization’s goals, capabilities, culture, and constraints.
While actively participating in the COGIC Church, Tim graduated from the COGIC Academy Seminary in North Carolina and was ordained as an Elder. He held several roles at Victorious Praise, COGIC in Durham, NC, such as Associate Pastor, Pastoral Care Leader for the Issachar Tribe, Vice President of the Board of Directors for Victorious Community Development Corporation, and Pastor over the Business and Professional Development Ministry.
After years of dedicated service in the COGIC Church, Tim felt led to serve in non-denominational churches. At Crossroads Fellowship in Raleigh, NC, he served as a Pastoral Care Leader and Missionary to Chihuahua, Mexico. He briefly founded his own church, serving as Senior Pastor of Waymakers Ministries in Raleigh, NC, before teaming up with another pastor as Assistant Pastor of Light of Life Ministries in Raleigh.
After a period away from leadership, a rejuvenated Tim joined Victory Baptist Church as Assistant Pastor in 2022. On November 23, 2025, he was elected Pastor of Victory Baptist Church and was installed as Pastor on November 30, 2025. Our founder, Dr. Antonio Smart, retired as church Pastor, with his final sermon delivered on December 7, 2025.
Tim is happily married to his lovely wife, Sharmesa, and together they have a blended family of five children: two boys and three girls. As empty nesters, Tim and Sharmesa relocated from Joliet, Illinois, to Tampa, Florida, in March 2021 and settled into their new home in South Tampa in March 2022.
Tim’s Vision: His vision is to draw sinners to the church services by demonstrating Christ’s love within us and guiding them to salvation. He aims to instruct and minister the Word of God, disciple and equip believers for spiritual growth, helping them become effective Christian leaders within their homes, communities, schools, businesses, governments, and throughout the world.
Tim’s Mission: His mission is to instill a Burning Desire to develop a personal relationship with Christ, cultivate a Contagious Passion for learning and ministering the Word of God, demonstrate Unfaltering Faith in God’s power and promises, and utilize his spiritual gifts to take Focused Action towards building Christ’s Kingdom.
